Clive EdwardsClive is the Programme Director for World of Waterways. He is a 'semi-retired' journalist by profession, with many years sailing and boating experience. He is a qualified yachtmaster, former auxiliary coastguard and spent several years as a rescue officer for the British Olympic Sailing Team.
Clive learned to sail as a lad on the Norfolk Broads, has extensive experience of dinghy sailing, of cruising yachts and large sea-going motor-cruisers. He later became involved in running a rescue boat for the Olympic trials and many world-championship sailing events.
Nowadays he has his own small motor-cruiser which he keeps in the south of France where it’s used on the Med., on the River Herault and on the Canal du Midi.
Apart from boating, Clive’s main sporting interest is as a rally driver. He has competed in many national and international car rallies, including the Rallye Monte Carlo Historique several times, finishing 14th overall (out of 360 competitors) and third in class on one occasion. He is a member of the International Rally Drivers Club, and the Guild of Motoring Writers.
Before retiring Clive was Editor in Chief of the well-known Alan Rogers Campsite Guides and is a Member of the Caravan Writers' Guild. « go back
