Image The principal waterway in Austria is the River Danube, navigable for some 350km from its up-stream border with Germany down-stream to the Slovak Republic.

It’s an interesting and challenging river for pleasure boating, with many comfortable harbours. The Danube is still extensively used by commercial traffic.
